Other troubleshooting

If one of the following problems occurs, it can normally be addressed by the user; if a fault
occurs that is not listed, contact your local Genevac representative for advice or technical
support.

under vacuum

Wait for system to stop

Pressure sensor failure

Switch evaporator off, wait five seconds
and switch on again.  Try to open lid
again.  If the problem persists, contact
your Genevac representative.

Condenser not ready

Short delay following
condenser power-up

No fault, this is normal.  Wait a few
minutes for the condenser to reach
operating temperature

Condenser not ready after 10
minutes

Contact Genevac service

Pump warming

Pump requires to be warmed
(HCl systems only)

No fault, this is normal.  Wait for pump
warm-up time-out

Out of balance error

Rotor imbalance detected at
start-up (before full rotor
speed is reached)

Check all sample holders and swing
have been loaded correctly
Check all opposing holders are
balanced with 10 g

IR lamp blown or cooling fan
failed

Contact Genevac Service

No SampleGuard
temperature display

No SampleGuard signal,

Wait until rotor reaches full speed.

Note:

 SampleGuard cannot be used if

Very Low

 rotor speed is selected

SampleGuard probe failure

Replace defective SampleGuard probe

SampleGuard stuffer plug not
connected

Replace missing / defective
SampleGuard stuffer plug

Samples not dry

IR lamp fault

See IR lamp / fan failure above

SampleGuard fault

See SampleGuard error above

Poor vacuum

Check vacuum connectors.  Contact
Genevac service if leak cannot be
found

Aqueous samples freezing
due to evaporative cooling

Set controlled pressure to 8 mbar for
aqueous runs

Condenser over full

Defrost / drain condenser

Condensation inside
chamber

Chamber walls are too cold.
Refer to:
