Loading the rotor
Check the condition of sample holders and (where applicable) swings before loading them
onto the rotor. Refer to
Maintenance
–
Recommended practice
.
When preparing sample holders to be loaded onto the rotor, do not exceed the maximum
load capacity of 1.5 kg per swing. This is important as samples in the evaporation chamber
can be subject to a centrifugal force approximately 500 times greater than gravity.
Observe the following precautions:
Never exceed the maximum load capacity of 1.5 kg per
swing
Distribute tubes symmetrically in sample holders
Make sure tubes or vials are inserted fully into the sample
holder wells
If using separate swings, make sure the sample holders
are located correctly in the swings
If partially loading the rotor, make sure sample holders /
swings are placed in a balanced configuration on the rotor
Balance opposing pairs of loaded sample holders
within 10 g.
Rotate the rotor by hand. Check that all tubes, holders, plates, etc are correctly located and
swings are able to swing freely. Only use the sample holders that were supplied with the
system or are specified for use with the system; never use non Genevac approved sample
holders.
Genevac Ltd will not accept responsibility for any loss or damage incurred by improperly or
excessively loaded rotors.
Caution:
Failure to load a system correctly could lead to unrecoverable sample
loss or damage to the system. As with all centrifuges, Genevac centrifugal
evaporators must be loaded correctly to remove the risk of damage.
