CARE AND CLEANING
WARNING:
Always ensure that the appliance and all its parts and acces-
sories are out of reach of young children.
The lower part of the group head, as
well as the portafilter, filter basket, and steam wand will get very hot during ope-
ration and shortly thereafter and steam and hot water may escape. Handle with
care to avoid scalds. Always switch OFF the appliance (press the power button),
then unplug the appliance, and leave the appliance cool down before cleaning
the appliance. Additionally, remove the drip tray and empty the water tank before
moving the appliance. Adhere to the following instructions for cleaning the appli-
ance and observe all given safety hints. Do not attempt to move the appliance or
disassemble any parts during operation.
WARNING – RISK OF INJURIES AND CHOKING:
Little children could
swallow some parts or accessories of the appliance. Do not leave little children
play with any part or accessory.
Do not clean the appliance, or power cord, or any of the parts or accessories in
an automatic dishwasher!
Do not immerse the housing, power plug, or power cord
in water or any other liquid, to avoid hazards due to electric shock and damage.
Do not spill or drip any liquids on the housing and power cord to avoid risk of over-
heating, fire, and electric shock.
Do not use violence. Do not use any abrasive cleaners or cleaning pads (e.g. metal
scouring pads) for cleaning the appliance or any part of it, to avoid damage to the
surfaces. For cleaning, do not use any hard or sharp-edged foreign objects, except
for the cleaning tool. The cleaning tool holds two fine pins. Handle with care to
avoid pricking and damage. Hygienic cleaning is performed according to the fol-
lowing instructions.
REPLACING THE WATER FILTER AND CLEANING THE WATER TANK
The water filter helps to prevent the excessive accumulation of lime within the inner
parts of the machine. Lime deposits can affect the performance of your machine over
time, potentially causing blockages and heating problems. Replacing the water filter
regularly will reduce the mineral build-up in the machine (see also: ‘Descaling the
Machine’).
