BEFORE FIRST USE
1. Pull the appliance out of the box. Remove and discard all promotional labels,
stickers, and packaging materials attached to your espresso machine, but do
not remove the model label and serial number at the bottom of the appliance.
Always ensure that young children do not play with any parts or accessories
or the packaging!
2. Before discarding the packaging, ensure that you have found all parts and
accessories. See: ‘Knowing Your EspressoAdvanced’. We recommend to store
the cleaning tool and filter basket not in use within the storage chamber. This
way these accessories will not get lost.
CAUTION:
For removing the water tank, the water tank must be lifted straight
upwards. Do not attempt to tilt the water tank, when removing it to avoid damage
to the support of the water tank and the valves of the water tank and base of the
appliance. If required, press the housing of the appliance down with your thumbs,
while lifting the water tank up.
3. Ensure that the appliance is switched off. Then grasp the water tank at both sides
and pull it out vertically.
CAUTION:
Do not use any abrasive cleaners, cleaning pads (e.g. metal scou-
ring pads), or any corrosive cleaners (e.g. disinfectants, chemical bleach) for clea-
ning. Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects for cleaning the appliance.
Do
not place the appliance or any part of it in an automatic dishwasher.
4. Clean water tank, cleaning tool, portafilter, filter baskets, and drip tray using
warm water and a gentle dish washing liquid. Rinse well with running tap water,
than dry thoroughly.
5. Place the appliance on an appropriate working place near a suitable wall
power outlet.
Note
Before each use, check the filling level of the water tank. We recommend to chan-
ge the water daily. Fill the water tank with cold, fresh tap water or low-mineral
bottled table water. Do not use mineral water, de-ionized water or other liquids
(see: ‘Tips for Best Results / The Water Quality’).
6. Assemble the drip tray with filling level indicator and cup tray and push the drip
tray into the base of the machine.
7. Insert the water filter into the water tank (see below: ‘Inserting or Changing the
Water Filter’), fill the water tank, and slide down the water tank at the back of
