13. If you do not wish to use the appliance again, press the power button to switch
off the appliance. Then unplug.
Tip:
When not in use, the steam wand may be left immersed in a high vessel filled
with clear water to reduce the risk of blockages.
Important:
If you wish to extract espresso after steam production, the water sys-
tem of the appliance must cool down first. For this, refer to the following section.
COOLING DOWN TO BREWING TEMPERATURE
Note
After using the steam function, the water system is too hot for brewing espresso
and the buttons of the brewing function are flashing. Before starting an extraction,
the water system has to cool down accordingly.
If you wish to start an extraction, you may cool down the water system manually.
14. If required, press the steam button to deselect the steam function (steam button
must be dark). With the water system still at steam temperature, the buttons of
the brewing functions will be flashing simultaneously.
15. Ensure that the steam wand is pointed at the drip tray. Turn the hot water/steam switch
clockwise to start the pump. Water will be given off via the steam wand, cooling
down the water system. Wait a few seconds, until the pump stops automatically.
16. Turn the hot water/steam switch back to the vertical position. The appliance is
ready for extraction again (only the power button is illuminated).
Note
You do not need to cool down the water system manually, if the appliance will be
idle for up to 10 minutes. As soon as the correct brewing temperature is reached
again, the buttons of the brewing functions will stop flashing automatically and the
brewing functions will be available again.
