HOT WATER
WARNING – RISK OF BURNS:
The hot water jet is given off under pressu-
re and may splash. Even after operation, hot steam and hot water could escape
from the steam wand and the steam wand will be hot. Ensure to keep your hands
and any delicate object in appropriate distance to the steam wand.
The hot water function can be used to pre-heat cups and the portafilter, or to give
off hot water for a mug of coffee (see: ‘Long Black—Normal Coffee’), tea or other
hot drinks.
Important:
The appliance is not intended for producing large amounts of hot water.
After approx. 30 seconds, the hot water function stops automatically to ensure that
the water keeps the correct temperature. Depending on the required amount, you
may need to start the hot water function again after making a break. In this case,
wait for approx. 1 minute, before using the function again to avoid overheating.
Note
The espresso and hot water functions cannot be operated at the same time.
1. Ensure that the water tank is filled sufficiently (at least 250 ml, see: ‘Preparation’).
If required, press the power button to switch on the appliance and wait for the
appliance to get ready (power button is illuminated continuously).
2. Ensure that the steam wand is pointed at the drip tray and the steam button is
dark.
3. Turn the hot water/steam switch clockwise to start the hot water function for
shortly purging the steam wand with hot water. Turn the hot water/steam switch

the steam wand.
If you wish to fill a cup with hot water, then insert the steam wand in the cup, pre-
pared accordingly.
For preparing Long Black from an already brewed espresso, the steam wand should
be immersed into the espresso, to avoid splashing of hot espresso or water.

switch back to the vertical position to stop the hot water function.
6. If required, wipe the steam wand using a soft moistened cloth.
7. By the handle, turn the steam wand to the drip tray and repeat step 3.
