5. Place a sufficiently large and heat-resistant bowl (at least 1/2 litres) onto the drip
tray and point the steam wand into the bowl.
6. Turn the hot water/steam switch clockwise to pump out hot water via the steam
wand. Leave the appliance operate until the hot water stops automatically. Turn
the hot water/steam switch back to the vertical position.
7. Empty the bowl and place it onto the drip tray again. Wait until the appliance
reaches the correct operating temperature again (power button is illuminated
continuously).
8. For completely washing out any small particles of activated carbon from the
water filter, repeat the steps 5 to 7 3-5 times. If required, do not forget to refill
the water tank intermediately.
9. Fill the water tank with cold water.
ADJUSTING THE WATER HARDNESS
You can set the DESCALING warning time to one of the three water hardness levels
(high, middle, or low, see: ‘Descaling the Machine’).
Note
The espresso machine is delivered with the water hardness set to high. However,
the DESCALING indicator is only for information and will illuminate as soon as the
water volume set as a default is reached. The DESCALING indicator will remain
illuminated until it is reset manually. It will not interfere with any operation of the
espresso machine.
Note
After switching on the appliance, wait until the appliance reached operating tem-
perature (power button is illuminated continuously). No settings can be made duri-
ng the heating process (power button is flashing).
The water hardness levels are assigned to the buttons of the appliance as given in
the following table.
