3.3.1 Serial Communications to Control Module
The wiring between the HMI and CM varies depending upon the type of communication adapter used.
3.3.1.1 FC6A-SIF52 Communication Card to HMI
The MCT interface is connected to the control module via a single cable with a 9pin connection on the interface
end (connected to COM1), and pig tail leads at the CPU end (connected to the upper side port of the dual
RS232/485 communication card).
Future Design Controls offers this cable as an option (p/n CA-232-8A). A cable can also be fashioned and
connected according to the following diagram:
3.3.1.2 US2000B Communication Module to HMI
The MCT interface is connected to the control module via the US2000B. This requires a null-modem style cable
between the HMI and the US2000B, which utilized female DB9 connectors on both ends. The US2000B is then
connected to the control module via a CAT5e patch cable running from its Ethernet port to Ethernet port 1 of
the CPU. Note that the CPU provides two Ethernet ports; however, only the upper port will support the
US2000B. When connecting to the CPU, make sure to use the upper port (port 1) or communications will fail.
Future Design Controls offers both the null-modem serial cable (DB9F-DB9F-10ft) and CAT5e (CA-CAT5e-
10ft) patch cable for use with the US2000B.
