Cylindrical lens

The cylindrical lens concentrates the laser beam from the LD unit and forwards it to
the polygon mirror. The cylindrical lens determines the beam diameter in the sub-
scan direction.

Polygon mirror

The polygon mirror [A] is a combined unit consisting of a polygon mirror motor and
a mirror. The polygon mirror is six-sided. The mirror surfaces are precisely ground
to prevent dot misalignments and to improve reflective efficiency. The polygon
mirror motor turns the mirror at 23,922 rpm. Six scans are performed per polygon
mirror motor revolution.
