5.10 Vibration
5.10.1 Vibration analysis
A separator normally vibrates and produces a
different sound when passing through its critical
speeds during run-up and run-down.
It also vibrates and sounds to some extent when
running. It is good practice to be acquainted
with these normal conditions.
Excessive vibrations and noise indicate that
something is wrong. Stop the separator and
identify the cause.
Use vibration analysis equipment to periodically
check and record the level of vibration.
The level of vibration of the separator should
not exceed 9 mm/s.

Disintegration hazards
When excessive vibration occurs, keep bowl filled and
stop separator.
The cause of the vibration must be identified and
corrected before the separator is restarted.
Excessive vibration can be due to incorrect assembly
or poor cleaning of the bowl.
