5.2.2. Video Monitoring
The 7847FSEDA series modules support advanced audio & video monitoring, referred to as AVM.
This advanced monitoring includes metrics for detecting potential issues in the video signal.
Figure 5-9 illustrates the layout of the controls in the VistaLINK® PRO configuration view.

AVM Core Processing Controls
AVM Processing:
This control
enables/disables
the audio/video monitoring processing. This
provides a simple way of disabling AVM processing and trap alarm reporting if it is not desired.
Monitoring Location:
This control specifies where the AVM processing is performed. When set to
Input
, the AVM monitoring is performed on the input audio/video signals into the device. This mode
would be desirable to qualify incoming signals, and detect errors when present on the input. When
set to
Output
, the AVM monitoring is performed on the output audio/video signals of the device. This
mode provides the ability to not only detect errors, but also potentially correct them (i.e. black level,
white level, audio silence) using the built-in audio/video processing on the module. With proper
adjustment, the reported AVM error should clear without requiring adjustments on an upstream
device.
Video Fault Controls
Video Error Duration:
This control sets the number of consecutive video frames that must contain
video errors (Line length & synchronization errors) before triggering a video errors fault condition.
The value range is 0 to 900 frames in increments of 1.
Video Error Timeout:
This control sets the timeout, in seconds, that must elapse to consecutive
error-free video frames before the video errors fault will be cleared. The value range is from 1 to 127
seconds in increments of 1 second.
