APPENDICES

Cleaning the encoder strip

The encoder strip is the thin, plastic strip that guides the inkjet carrier.

When you are printing for more than 4 hours each day, clean its top and

bottom monthly with a dampened cloth or cotton swab damped with

isopropyl alcohol or distilled water.

Note

: Use caution when cleaning the encoder strip to prevent bending or

damaging the plastic strip. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Cleaning the ink cartridge jet plate

The ink cartridges may require occasional maintenance when used in low

humidity. If repeated priming doesnt unclog the head, follow the cleaning

procedure below. In addition, cartridges will wear out after prolonged use. If

cleaning the cartridge does not restore print quality, replace it.
