Installation
3.1
Installation procedure
The recommended sequence of operations to install an intrusion alarm system with MEDEA control panels
in the shortest possible time, while guaranteeing the best result, is:
1.
Lay the cables.
2.
Open the pre-cut holes in the plastic or metal box required for cable routing, connection of cable
ducts and installation of external and internal antennas.
3.
Fix the control unit to the wall.
4.
Assemble the control unit expansion modules.
5.
Assemble the MEDEA CPU in the control unit.
6.
Assemble interfaces on the CPU and accessories in the control unit.
7.
Control unit connections
8.
Install and connect keypads, readers, additional power supplies and expansion modules.
9.
Install and connect detectors and alarm and signalling devices.
10. Install wireless and home automation devices.
11. System power.
12. System configuration and testing (procedures explained in the
Programming Manual
).
However, a different procedure may be followed. For example, some preparation and assembly steps can
be carried out in advance in the workshop.
It is also possible to program the whole system in advance in the workshop with a PC and then download
the programming directly from the PC or via CLOUD to the site.
3.2
Laying the cables
Lay all necessary connection cables: bus, detectors, alarm and signalling devices, power supply,
telephone connection.
IMPORTANT
Check the sizing before laying the cables.
IMPORTANT
When laying cables, keep the cables of the intrusion alarm system separate from the
cables of the flat or office electrical system (separate cable ducts).
IMPORTANT
Electrical safety regulations require the wiring to be well maintained and that all
connecting cables are blocked near the terminal blocks to prevent safety extra-low voltage (SELV)
conductors from coming into contact with hazardous voltage points (230 V~ terminals).
