Supplementary power supply unit
The SA700 supplementary bus power supply is a board which, when housed in the plastic box or metal
box. It can be purchased separately to increase the availability of current and the number of devices
connected to the MEDEA control unit.
The board has 2 output buses and an additional power output, which can be galvanically separated from
the control unit power supply by means of the jumper.
The power supply unit is connected via BUS to the control unit from which it is supervised.
It is possible to connect 7Ah or 9Ah batteries in a plastic box or 18Ah batteries in a metal box.
2.5
Input/output connection sizing
The length of the wired connection between the detector or actuator and the input to which it is connected
must not exceed 500 metres.
The length of the connection must not exceed 100 metres if the device is connected to an input configured
for fast pulses (roller shutter, inertial etc.).
2.6
Choosing the control unit location
The following criteria must be observed when positioning the control unit:
•
Use a dry, flat wall. A damp wall could be an indication of possible water infiltration, which could cause
dampness the inside of the plant and damage it. A wavy or uneven surface may prevent the power
unit from being properly secured.
•
Place the control unit a sheltered indoor location, adequately ventilated and protected by the intrusion
alarm system. The control unit should not be visible to everyone so that when the system is armed it
cannot be reached by an intruder unless by crossing areas protected by detectors.
•
Place the control unit away from strong sources of electromagnetic interference, such as transformers,
electric motors or electronic control systems (e.g. inverters) and sources of wireless wave generation
(e.g. WiFi routers). If the installation includes transmission systems using wireless frequency for
security institutions (wireless links), these devices must be installed at least 5m from the control unit.
•
Place the control unit at eye level to facilitate installation and maintenance operations.
Do not install the control unit on a metal surface or near large metal objects, or inside metal structures if
you want to use the WiFi connection and wireless interfaces immediately or in the future.
If connections via the mobile phone network are used, the control unit search function can be used to
determine which telephone operator has the best signal in relation to the chosen location for the control
unit. No SIM card needs to be inserted into the telephone interface to do this.
The following remedies can be attempted if the planned location of the control unit does not guarantee the
quality of the wireless connections (RF 868, ZigBee, 2G/4G cellular telephony or WiFi):
•
Install one or more ER700-RF expansion boards in external expansion units connected to the control
unit via the RS485 BUS.
•
New ANT2/4G BM antennas can be used with 2G/4G interfaces the optional external antenna (metal
box). The ANT2/4G HG high-gain antenna can also be connected if required
•
The ZB600RPT repeater can be used for the ZigBee interface.
