To fill the external reservoir, proceed as follows (see illustration Figure 20):
Check that
RESERVOIR FILL/DRAIN
valve is set to
OPEN
. Open if
necessary (do not open the valve if the external reservoir is not connected to
the
FILL/DRAIN
port).
Fill the external reservoir will fluid. Use only the fluid that is already present
in the PPCH. Fill only with the same fluid which is already present in the
PPCH. Do not mix or attempt to change fluids.
If the
OVERFLOW
circuit has not been purged of air, purge it. Loosen the
OVERFLOW
plug and allow fluid to run until the runoff is air free. Tighten
the plug when complete.
Leave
RESERVOIR FILL/DRAIN
valve set to
OPEN
. PPCH will not operate
correctly with valve set to
CLOSE
position.

5.6.2.2 DRAINING THE EXTERNAL RESERVOIR
To drain the external reservoir, proceed as follows (see illustration Figure 20):
Empty the external tank.
Check that the
RESERVOIR RETURN
valve is set to
EXTERNAL
. Set to
EXTERNAL
if necessary.
Prepare a receptacle at a level lower than the PPCH to collect fluid that will be
drained from the external tank connecting tubes and the internal reservoir.
Disconnect the external tank fill tube from the external tank and place it in the
receptacle.
Remove the
OVERFLOW
port plug.
Fluid will run out the external tank fill tube. Wait a few moments for the flow
to stop.
Disconnect the external tank return tube from the external tank and place it in
the receptacle.
When the tubes have drained, detach them from the PPCH.
