4.4.4 PROGRAM MESSAGE DESCRIPTIONS

Purpose To allow the host PC to communicate with a device connected to the PPCH COM2 port.
Classic “#xx”
Arguments xx: The string to send out of the COM2 port. It must be less than
40 characters long.
Remarks The PPCH COM2 port can be used to communicate to another RS232 device (such as
another PPCH). This allows the user to use one COM port or IEEE-488 port on the host
computer to communicate with the PPCH and another device. A carriage return and a
line feed (
<CR><LF>
) are added to the string.
After this program message is issued, the PPCH will reply back any messages received
by the PPCH COM2 port that is terminated with a carriage return. Line feeds are
discarded. This will discontinue when the next program message is sent to the PPCH.
There is no other reply from this program message. Prior to using this program message,
you must ensure that the PPCH COM2 port is correctly set up to communicate with the
device on COM2. Refer to the
“COM2=“
program message.
If the PPCH is using an external RPM4 as the active RPT, then this command should not
be used to interfere with the RPM4.

This example assumes that a second PPCH’s COM1 port is connected to the PPCH
COM2 port. This example gets the version of the second PPCH.

COM2 is generally used for connecting DHI RPM4s to supply external measurement
devices in which case communications are handled automatically by the PPCH,
ABORT
Purpose Stops active pressure generation/control. All control valves are closed.
Command

Remarks This program message has no effect if the PPCH is not using automated pressure control.
When using automated pressure control, it aborts the control. This command is recommended
to idle the PPCH before setting a new target pressure. It can take several seconds for
open control valves to close.
