5.3 Downloading maps, DEM, and custom DEM
5.3.1
Downloading a map and a DEM

Tap the
MAP
tab.
• A white zone shows the maps that will be downloaded.
• A warning sign indicates that the maps are not yet available offline.

If required, tap
EDIT ZONE
to modify the zone to be downloaded.

Tap
START DOWNLOAD
to get the offline DEM and map tiles.
Download can take 10 to 20 minutes for a large area.
Delair uses SRTM90 (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) as standard DEM source.
After a successful download, the message
Download successful
is shown.
5.3.2
Use a custom DEM
Delair Flight Deck allows you to use your own DEM file. This feature is recommended in following
cases:
• terrain in your area has been significanty modified: mines and quarries
• your area is located above 60° latitude (not implemented in default DEM)
Supported DEM files:
• Format: GeoTiff Format
• Maximum size: 2GB and 100 000 000 pixels
• Units: meters or feet. If not indicated in the GeoTiff, meter is considered as default.
To import a custom DEM:

Make sure your file is located into your tablet Downloads folder

Tap the
MAP
tab

Tap
Import DEM
: a pop-up display available files. Select your file in the list and press
OK
. Your file
is now listed below Custom DEM and the map view is centered on its location.
Note
Once a custom DEM has been imported, it becomes available to use for flights created. For each flight
created users must specify if a custom DEM is to be used, see
Managing the flight settings on page
.
