INSTALL THE CROSS CABLING FOR THE FRAME
There are three (3) sections of cross cabling to install on
the high crown arena. These cables provide additional
support. Each section shown below includes two (2)
cable crosses. View is looking down on the assembled
arena frame.
There are four cables per cable set. The following parts
are needed for the first set of cross cables:
•
4 pre-cut cable sections
•
8 Cable Thimbles
•
4 Cable Turnbuckles
•
32 Cable Clamps
Complete the following steps:
1. Cut two (2) lengths of cable at 20' each for the lower
cable pair of the set and two (2) lengths at 16' each
for the upper cable pair.
2. Take one 20' cable, determine where on that cable
you want to position a turnbuckle, and cut the cable
at that location.
HINT:
Position the turnbuckles (see arrows below) so
they do not interfere with each other.
View shows cables as seen on the inside of the arena.
3. Select a turnbuckle and open it to the extended
position.
4. Install cable thimbles on each eye of the turnbuckle
and attach the cable to the turnbuckle. (Refer to the
previous cable procedure if needed to attach the
turnbuckle.)
REMEMBER:
The U-bolt portion of the cable clamp is
positioned over the
dead
or short section of the cable.
5. For the cable sections attached around the end pipe
connector at the ground post, loop the cable as
described earlier during the installation of the long
cables for each rafter.
For cables attached at the purlin brackets, consult
the photo that follows.
The first cross cables are
installed at the gate opening.
The remaining sets are spaced evenly around the ring as
shown in the diagram above.
