2. Install the remaining purlins to complete the first ring.
3. Move to the next rafter joint and repeat the previous
steps to attach the next ring of purlins to the second
rafter joints in the same manner.
4. Install the final/top ring of purlins in the same
manner as the previous rings.
5. After attaching all purlin rings, verify that the rafters
are aligned and straight, and continue by installing
the cable systems.
IMPORTANT:
The purlins and the ½" x 5½" purlin
bracket mounting bolts are tightened
after
all cables are
installed and tightened.
ATTACH TURNBUCKLES TO THE RAFTER CABLES
The rafter cables are the long cable assemblies for each
rafter that run from the crown to the lower rafter mount at
the ground post. The following parts are
needed for each
cable assembly
:
•
1 Turnbuckle
•
2 Cable Thimbles
•
4 Cable Clamps
•
12 Cables cut to 38' each
Complete these steps:
1. Take one 38' length of cable and cut an 8' piece
from it. This 8' piece is the
lower cable section
.
2. Repeat Step 1 for the remaining 38' cables and set
each short 8' section aside.
3. Take each 30' cable and attach one to each rafter at
the crown as shown below using two cable clamps.
REMEMBER:
Install the U-bolt portion of the cable
clamp over the "dead" or short end of the cable when
securing the cable to the turnbuckle.
ATTENTION:
The clamp must remain close to the rafter
to keep the cable loop in place around the end pipe
connector of the rafter.
At this time, the loose end of each 32' cable will hang
from the crown to the center of the arena.
To the peak
of the frame
Cable is wrapped around
the end connector of the
rafter. Two cable clamps
are added to secure it.
