8.6.4 Configuration of the encoder mode and resolution
For configuration, use the
Encoder setup
page of CST to specify all parameters. For more
information, see section 9.17.
To open the
Encoder setup
page, click
Encoder setup
on the toolbar.
To set up the encoder parameters:
1. Select the
Enable encoder
check box.
2. In the
Synchronization mode
list, click the desired mode (for more information, see
section 9.17.2):
Line trigger mode (Const. int time)
: In line trigger mode, the camera sends a single line
per pulse. If you specify a value at
Line trigger/ encoder reduction
, the camera sends a
single line for the number of specified pulses. The remaining parameters are not available
in this mode.
Encoder (Continuous update)
: The encoder mode uses the internal intelligent encoder
functionality. The camera measures the speed of the object and sends lines based on the
defined encoder resolution and the vertical image resolution.
3. In the
Encoder channels
list, click the number of recognized edges per step of the
encoder signal. Best results are reached with 1 Chanel full step
due to tolerances in the duty
factor of the pulses.
4. Specify a value for
Line trigger/encoder reduction
:
In line trigger mode: The value defines how many trigger signals are used to trigger a
single scanning line.
In encoder mode: This factor can be used to reduce the number of encoder pulses per
line. If the number of encoder pulses per line exceeds 255, this factor must be used to
reduce the number below 255.
5. In the
Average size
list, specify how many encoder increments are averaged for speed
measurements. For more information, see section 9.17.4.
6. In the
Encoder resolution
box, enter the resolution of the encoder in µm/step. For more
information, see section 9.17.5.
