Warnings & Precautions

DO NOT

use the SpO2 module for any purpose other than specified in this

manual without written consent and approval from Cheetah Medical.

CAUTION

Substitution of a component different from that supplied may

result in measurement error. Repairs should be undertaken only by personnel

trained or authorized by Cheetah Medical.

CAUTION

All SpO2 sensors used to connect the patient to the Starling SV

SpO2 module must be approved by Cheetah Medical. Unauthorized SpO2

sensors may cause the module to perform in an improper fashion. Authorized

SpO2 sensors are offered as accessories from Cheetah Medical.

CAUTION

Do not use NIBP or constricting instruments on the same

appendage as the sensor.

CAUTION

The SpO2 module may not operate correctly if used or stored

outside the relevant temperature or humidity ranges described in the

Performance specifications.

WARNING

Intravascular dyes (such as indocyanine green, methylene blue,

etc.) and darkly pigmented skin can adversely affect SpO2 readings.

WARNING

Significant amounts of dysfunctional hemoglobins (such as

carboxyhemoglobin, methemoglobin, etc.) may adversely affect oximetry

performance.

WARNING

Oximetry performance may be impaired when patient perfusion

is low or signal attenuation is high.

WARNING

Long cables (such as the sensor or extension cable) may cause

patient strangulation if routed incorrectly.

WARNING

Electromagnetic interference which includes devices such as

defibrillators, MRIs, or electro-surgical units may adversely affect SpO2 readings.

CAUTION

Do not immerse sensors.
