Pyxis MedStation 4000 System Console User Guide

Cerner overview

Optimized device integration between the Pyxis MedStation system and Cerner 
Millennium

®

 creates a closed clinical information and process loop for medication 

administration and management. By helping to provide the required data at the 
right time in the medication process, communication between nurses and 
pharmacists is improved, thereby minimizing disruptions in the medication 
process.

Using the Pyxis MedStation System with the Cerner IT adaptor, you can:

access Pyxis MedStation system medication location and availability within 
the Cerner PowerChart

®

. 

•

access Pyxis MedStation system clinical and operational alert information 
through Cerner Millennium. 

During implementation, the Pyxis MedStation system console and the CareFusion 
Interface are configured to provide data to Cerner Millennium through 
CareAware, Cerner's integrated device connectivity architecture. 

Medication location and availability

Medication location and stock availability for the Pyxis MedStation system will 
be accessible within Cerner PowerChart. This enables nursing staff to see in the 
Cerner PowerChart where medication is located on stations within the nursing 
unit, as well as the current stock availability. Depending on your user medication 
privileges assigned within the Pyxis MedStation system, the displayed location 
and stock available varies within Cerner PowerChart.

To see the Pyxis MedStation Medication Location and Availability information 
within Cerner PowerChart, you need to be assigned Remote Privileges.

Using remote privileges
