Step 7:
Cut the small end of each nozzle to permit it to be slipped onto a cable, small end
first. Slide the nozzle onto the cable to a point just above the pad. Prepare the
remaining cables in the same manner.
Step 8:
Replace any unused nozzles.
Note: If more than one cable enters the same split sleeve, cut the nozzle to
accommodate all cables. The opening in each nozzle should be small
enough to allow the nozzles to fit securely on the cables. Use sealing
tape and B sealant to fill the gaps between the cables and to fit the
nozzle opening.
Step 9:
Place the cables in the rear split cables sleeves (left rear split sleeve first). Install the
center base plate, which closes the rear split cable sleeves, by replacing and
tightening the two hex head bolts. Slide the nozzles up over the two rear split cable
sleeves, then install and tighten the upper and lower hose clamps.
Step 10:
Install any remaining cables in the front split cable sleeves. Install the front split
cable sleeve plate removed previously. Slide nozzles up over the two front split
cable sleeves, then install and tighten the upper and lower hose clamps.
Step 11:
Pull the bonding insulated conductor (Lead 13) ground wire(s) through the
grommet in the center of the split sleeve cluster and route it in a smooth curve to the
ground bar. Bond according to local practices. Connect the wire(s) to the wire
clamps provided on the ground bar (Fig. 25). Tighten to a torque of 110 in-lb.
Step 12:
Reinstall the front splice chamber base cover by attaching it with the two

screws.
Step 13:
For maximum protection from ground moisture and gases in the splice chamber,
apply locally approved sealing compound around the opening in the split base
panel. Place sealing compound along the joint between the front and rear split panel
and around the split cable sleeve seam.
