RAID Configurations

The RAID feature is supported by a specific RAID controller card.

One or more hard disk drives can be configured in a redundant array. In case of a hard disk
drive failure, the data stored on the faulty device can be recovered from the other devices
owned by the array.

Note:

RAID controllers do not support native High Availability configurations.

A maximum of two SCSI busses can be managed in RAID configurations. These are the
busses managing Area 5 (and Area 4 if managed by the same bus) and Area 3 (and Area 2
if managed by the same bus).

Refer to the specific RAID documentation for the setup procedures.

Native High Availability Configurations

The system supports some native High Availability configurations, where the full availability
is guaranteed by the physical interconnection and software management of two systems in
such a way that, if one system fails, the other system takes the control and all the activity
goes on without interruption.

Notes:

1. Native High Availability configurations are not supported by RAID controllers.

2. Native High Availability configurations can also include expansion units. Please

refer to the expansion unit specific documentation for details and examples.

3. Native High Availability configurations are not supported by ULTRA-2/LVD

controllers. ULTRA/SE controllers must be used instead.
