Display and Description of the Open Firmware Menu
The Open Firmware menu allows to view hardware configuration, display and modify
system configuration variables, such as boot options and device alias definition, boot or
reset the system, set remote maintenance variables.
The Open Firmware variables are stored in non-volatile memory (NVRAM). In case NVRAM
is corrupted, the configuration variables are automatically restored to their default values.
A whole list of Open Firmware configuration variables is available in the
Maintenance Guide
.
Notes:
1. The modifications applied to the configuration variables do not take effect until a
system restart.
2. The configuration variables must be modified with care to avoid compromising the
system’s behavior.
3. The menu screens shown in this section are those displayed on the graphic
console. The variable values are shown as example.
The menu is entered with the following main screen.
