Servicing the Spark Plug
Service Interval:
Every 100 hours/Every 6 months
(whichever comes first)—Check the
spark plug.
Every 300 hours/Yearly (whichever comes
first)—Replace the spark plug.
Type:
NGK BPR6ES or equivalent
Gap:
0.7 to 0.8 mm (0.028 to 0.031 inch)
Note:
Use a 13/16 inch (21 mm) spark-plug wrench
for removing and installing the spark plug.
Removing the Spark Plug
1.
Ensure that the machine surfaces are cool.
2.
Pull the spark-plug wire off the terminal of the
spark plug (
).

Clean around the spark plug.
4.
Rotate the spark plug counterclockwise using
a 13/16 inch (21 mm) spark-plug wrench to
remove the plug and the sealing washer (

Checking the Spark Plug
Note:
Use a gapping tool/feeler gauge to check and
adjust the gap. Install a new spark plug if necessary.
1.
Look at the center of the spark plug (
).
If you see light brown or gray on the insulator,
the engine is operating properly.
Important:
Never clean the spark plug.
Always replace the spark plug when it has a
black coating, worn electrodes, an oily film,
or cracks.
