How do I set alias
names?
Information about setting the Jaz disk alias name and the SCSI alias
name, together with the access rights, can be found in “Section 6 -
Security Management ” on page 57.
The
volumes
folder
The volumes folder contains all files used for controlling the access of
the StorPoint HD, the connected Jaz drives, and the Jaz disks inserted.

You only need to know about these files if you intend to use a text
editor to set the names, passwords, configuration parameters, etc.
If you use a Web browser or the AXIS WinPoint Windows tool
these files are managed differently.
Three different folders are found under the volumes folder:
• Files in the server folder . The files named hd.txt , config.txt , root.txt
and volumes.txt, control the access to the file system of the
StorPoint HD itself. Also the file default.txt is available containing
the default settings to be used when either a new Jaz disk is
inserted, or a new Jaz drive is connected.
• Files in the scsi folder . A file for each SCSI ID, named
id<x>lun<y>.txt where <x> is the SCSI address and <y> the LUN
address, will automatically be created. If the alias name in the file
is set, this file will control the access to the Jaz disk inserted into
the drive.
• Files in the jazdisks folder . When inserting a Jaz disk, a text file
with the volume name is automatically created. This file controls
the user access to the Jaz disk. Settings for typically 56 Jaz disks
can be stored in the StorPoint HD at any time. The settings will
remain even if the Jaz disk is ejected. When the limit is reached,
the oldest settings are discarded when a new Jaz disk is inserted.
