based on density altitude, as described
in the Airspeeds for Normal Operations
section of your aircraft Pilot Operating
Handbook.
Under low power conditions, the V
G
label displays the Best Glide airspeed
as listed in the Airspeeds for
Emergency Operations section of your
aircraft Operating Handbook. If your
aircraft POH lists Best Glide airspeeds
for multiple gross weights, V
G
is
displayed as a range between the highest and lowest Best Glide
airspeed. Consult the POH for the correct Best Glide airspeed for
a particular gross weight.
ENGINE INDICATION ON ADI
For reference, a % power indication of engine power is displayed
on the left edge of the ADI. In aircraft still equipped with analog
round dial engine gauges, this indication of power on the ADI is
for reference only. In aircraft not equipped with analog round dial
engine gauges, this indication of power on the ADI can be
considered your primary engine power indication.
While there is constant engine monitoring going on “behind-the-
scenes” in the system designed to alert the pilot to engine
behavior requiring immediate attention, there is a means to
display some supplemental engine parameters full time on the
PFD. This is a user-configurable option and when turned on,
results in a digital readout of some engine parameters on the
power tape to the left of the airspeed indicator.
The specific parameters will vary by engine type but for example,
on a single engine normally aspirated piston, the parameters
displayed are:
