7.9 Replacing the Vacuum Pump
Instructions for Replacing the Vacuum Pump Unit
WARninG: electrical Shock
Before starting, ensure that the power cord is unplugged to prevent accidental electrical shock!
1. Unscrew back panel and open.
2. Trace the black (or brown), white (or blue) and green wires leading from the vacuum pump to the terminal block. Loosen
the screws holding the power wires and remove from the terminal block.
3. Remove the valve plate with the valve and note the position of the valve on intake or exhaust sides of plate (mark them
if necessary) and remove valve.
4. Remove the tube with the filter from the valve plate.
5. Remove the two black wires from the top of the capacitor by pulling on the push-on connectors. (The capacitor is black
and rectangular, with terminals on the top.)
6. If it is necessary to replace the capacitor, unscrew the nut holding the capacitor and remove the capacitor.
7. Pull the vacuum pump back out of the compartment and locate the vacuum line leading to the brass barb fitting on the
vacuum pump. Remove the vacuum line from the barb.
8. Remove the vacuum pump and service using separate instructions or replace with a new one. Reverse the above steps.
NOTE: Ensure that the vacuum line tubing is securely pushed onto the fitting (it should slide on at least ½”).
You may wish to do a function check on the system before replacing the back panel.
WARninG: electrical Shock
The electrical terminal block is exposed.
Ensure that your HANDS and TOOLS are
out of the unit before turning it on.
7.10 Replacing Tubing in Purge Pump
The purge pump is a roller type that squeezes the
tubing to pull liquids out of the suction canister. The
pump uses a special type of tubing for this application.
In the event this tubing wears out or is torn and needs to
be replaced, follow the below instructions.
7.10.1 Remove Old Tubing
1. Unplug the power cord, then completely unwind
the power cord and purge hose from the back
and open the back panel to gain access to the
purge pump.
2. Open the latch to roller pump (Fig 7.10.1-A) and remove the tubing (Fig 7.10.1.B).
3. The tubing connects from the suction canister and runs through the roller pump and then to the back port chassis.
Note the orientation of the tubing to assist when placing in the new tubing assembly. Remove the tube end from the
suction canister by pushing on the outer ring of the connector (Fig 7.10.1-C) and then pulling out the tubing.
4. Remove the other end of the tubing from the chassis by pushing down on the outer ring and pulling the tubing out.
