1. Relieve all air pressure from system. To depressurize, you can operate an air handpiece connection or the air water
syringe.
2. Remove the black wire on the terminal block, then the white wire. Refer to the wiring schematic. Carefully cut the wire
ties holding wiring on the clear nylon tube .375 OD x .275 ID tubing and pull wires out and out of the way. The
tubing is connected by a “Push In” type fitting which makes it easier to disconnect and reconnect. To remove the
tubing, push the outer gray ring of the fitting down and firmly pull out the clear tubing in one motion to remove tubing
from compressor.
3. Locate the bottom plate under the compressor. Remove the two hex head bolts that are retaining the compressor plate.
4. Pull the compressor out of the compartment by sliding backwards. Hold the chassis while pulling out the compressor
(Note: it may pull hard) until it is removed completely from the slides.
For servicing of the manifold, refer to those separate instructions.
Once the compressor has been serviced, reverse the above steps to replace. Ensure that all tubing and wiring are placed
inside the compartment to avoid vibrating against the air compressor as this can cause significant noise.
WARninG: electrical Shock
The electrical terminal block is exposed. Ensure that your HANDS and TOOLS are out of the unit before turning
it on.
7.8.1 installing compressor Rebuild Kit, Replacement of low Pressure Side – Disassembly
Refer to the exploded view parts list (9.6) during the repair procedures.
Note: The air compressor is a two stage design in which the first head compresses the air and then the second head
compresses the air further. The first head is a larger diameter with a thin wall sleeve. The first part of the instructions covers
replacing the low pressure inlet side of compressor and then the second part will cover replacing the high pressure side.
1. IMPORTANT: Note the orientation of the ports; so that the head covers are reassembled correctly (label them if necessary).
2. Remove the head bolts and remove the head covers, set aside.
3. Remove the valve plate with the valve and note the position of the valve on intake or exhaust sides of plate (mark them if
necessary) and remove valve.
4. Remove the tube with the filter from the valve plate.
5. Remove the retainer plate (1/8” Allen head, two screws), the piston cup and cylinder.
6. Discard the 1/8” Allen head screws for the retainer plate, piston cup, and cylinder, O-rings on the tube, O-ring for the
cylinder, and O-ring for the head, valves and valve retainers (these will be replaced with new parts in the kit).
