To switch on the instrument, proceed as follows:
1. Turn the main switch to “On”.
2. Switch on the computer.
The operating system is booted.
3. Start the instrument's software program ICP ANALYZER PRO after the
operating system has been completely booted.
Allow the instrument to stabilize for at least 3 hours after switching it on
(optical system).
Ensure that the operating temperature of the optical system (15 °C
(59 °F)) has been reached. A more extended stabilization period may be
required.
The instrument is ready for operation.
4. Click the plasma icon to open the instrument control parameters:
5. Purge the sample introduction system for 2 minutes with argon by clicking the
“Purge” button. Ensure that the pressure clamps of the peristaltic pump are
clamped tightly around the sample tubings. This prevents the sample from
getting into the spray chamber or the torch.
6. Click the “START PLASM” button in order to activate the start of the plasma.
The sample introduction system is automatically flushed with argon.
At the end of this process, the plasma is started.
7. Click the “START PUMP” button in order to activate the peristaltic pump.
Depending on the application, distilled water or a zero solution ("blank"),
which is adjusted to the matrix, should be nebulized for approx. 10
minutes in order to heat up and equalize the components.
The instrument is now switched on and the plasma started.
