5.7.3 Fertiliser quantity adjustment on the Vario gearbox
The desired fertiliser quantity is set using the
gearbox lever (Fig. 102/1) of the Vario gearbox.
Adjusting the gearbox lever changes the fertiliser
quantity. The higher the number the gearbox
lever points to on the scale (Fig. 102/2), the
greater the fertiliser quantity.
Carry out a calibration test to determine whether
the gearbox lever is correctly set and whether
the fertiliser quantity is correct during subsequent
seeding.

A number of calibration tests are often necessary
to determine the correct gearbox setting.
The gearbox setting can be calculated from the
values of the first calibration test using the
calculating disc rule. Always check the value
determined on the calculating disc rule with a
further calibration test.
The calculating disc rule has three scales

An outer white scale (Fig. 103/1)
for fertiliser quantities above 30 kg/ha

An inner white scale (Fig. 103/2)
for fertiliser quantities below 30 kg/ha

A coloured scale (Fig. 103/3)
with all gearbox settings from 1 to 100.
