2. Pull the red control out and up to set the start/stop
switch in the choke position. (1)
3. Press the air purge diaphragm again and again until
fuel starts to fill the diaphragm (about 6 times). The
diaphragm must not be filled up. (2) (Fig. 47)
4. Hold the front handle with your left hand. Put your
right foot into the boot grip through the lower section
of the rear handle.
5. Press the product against the ground.
WARNING: Make sure you have safe
stands and that the saw chain cannot
touch anything.
6. Pull the starter handle with your right hand and pull
out the starter cord slowly until you feel a resistance
(as the starter pawls engage). Pull the starter cord
firm and quickly until the engine starts. (Fig. 48)
7. Push down the start/stop switch when the engine
fires, which you can hear through a "puff" sound. Pull
the starter cord with power until the engine starts.
WARNING: Do not twist the starter cord
around your hand.
CAUTION: Do not pull the starter cord to
full extension and do not let go of the
starter handle when the starter cord is
fully extended. This can cause damage
the product.
8. The speed of the engine must be set to idle when
the chain brake is still engaged. Quickly disengage
the throttle trigger lockout. This prevents too much
wear to the clutch, clutch drum and brake band.
9. Pull the front hand guard back (marked "PULL BACK
TO RESET") towards the front handle to disengage
the chain brake. Use the product. (Fig. 22)
To start the product with a warm engine
1. Engage the chain brake by moving the front hand
guard forward. (Fig. 46)
WARNING: The chain brake must be
engaged when the chainsaw is started to
decrease the risk that the saw chain
touches you during start.
2. Pull the red control out and up to set the start/stop
switch in the choke position to obtain the correct
choke/start throttle setting. (1).
3. Press the air purge diaphragm again and again until
fuel starts to fill the diaphragm (about 6 times). The
diaphragm must not be filled up. (2) (Fig. 47)
4. Press down the start/stop switch. This inactivates the
choke, which is not needed when you start a warm
chainsaw. However the movement of the start/stop
switch will have engaged a high idle, which makes it
easier to start a warm chainsaw.
5. Hold the front handle with your left hand. Put your
right foot into the boot grip through the lower section
of the rear handle.
6. Press the product against the ground.
WARNING: Make sure you have safe
stands and that the saw chain cannot
touch anything.
7. Pull the starter handle with your right hand and pull
out the starter cord slowly until you feel a resistance
(as the starter pawls engage). Pull the starter cord
firm and quickly until the engine starts. (Fig. 49)
WARNING: Do not twist the starter cord
around your hand.
CAUTION: Do not pull the starter cord to
full extension and do not let go of the
starter handle when the starter cord is
fully extended. This can cause damage
the product.
8. The speed of the engine must be set to idle when
the chain brake is still engaged. Quickly disengage
the throttle trigger lockout. This prevents too much
wear to the clutch, clutch drum and brake band.
9. Pull the front hand guard back (marked "PULL BACK
TO RESET") towards the front handle to disengage
the chain brake. Use the product. (Fig. 22)
To stop the product
1. Push the start/stop switch down to stop the engine.
(Fig. 29)
2. Remove the spark plug cap to prevent accidental
starting.
WARNING: The start/stop switch
automatically returns to run position. In order
to prevent unintentional starting, the spark
plug cap must be removed from the spark
plug when assembling, checking and/or
performing maintenance.
(Fig. 50)
Basic cutting technique
• To cut from above = To cut on the pull stroke. This
means that the saw chain pulls through the tree and
that the chainsaw body lies on the trunk when you
cut. To cut on the pull stroke gives the operator
better control of the product and the position of the
kickback area.
