The XRS 4 with applicator is then moved upwards to perform the measure-
ments at different depths using the dosimeter and calculate the dose rate
along the central Z axis. As a means of improving the statistics, it is advisable
to measure measuring points in 0.5 mm steps during the first 15 mm in order
to collect as many measuring points as possible along the steep part of the
depth dose curve. This supports the user in calculating a more suitable func-
tion for the calculation of the dose rate on the applicator surface (Z = 0 mm).
The maximum distance (along the Z axis) that can be reached on the central
axis with these applicators is 22 mm. The depth dose measurements should
therefore be performed in 0.5 mm steps from 0 to 15 mm and then in 1 mm
steps up to the maximum permissible depth. The table below contains the
maximum measuring depths for all applicators:
