– Make or disconnect the cable connections:
– Operating the electrometer:
– Remove any accumulated air bubbles from the X-ray probe.
– Measure the water temperature and air pressure:
– Measure the water temperature in the water tank.
– Close the cover of the water tank properly.
– Measure the air pressure.
– Ensure that all covers are properly attached to the water tank.
– Ensure that the XRS 4 is properly seated in the rotary feedthrough, i.e. that
there is no air gap between the XRS 4 and the XRS mount.
– Ensure that the covers of the measuring chambers are properly attached.
– Switch on the INTRABEAM and let it warm up.
– Record the depth dose curve:
– Place the probe tip in the optimum position (see page 35) in relation
to the IC ionization chamber in the measuring chamber for the depth
dose curve, check the positioning by measuring the current with the
electrometer.
– Record the measured values. Depending on the number of measuring
points, this may take several hours.
– Compare the measurement results with the stored calibration data of
the XRS 4.
– Calculate the dose rate
– Measure the isotropy:

• Connect the IC ionization chamber to the “Ion Chamber” port.
• Connect the XRS 4 to the XRS cable (green).
• Open the folding shutter of the Workplace so that the electrometer is
accessible for operation.

(No action is required, the electrometer is automatically switched to
manual operation.)
