INTRABEAM Water Phantom
Operation
Measuring the depth dose curve without
spherical applicator
Using the depth dose curve, a characteristic curve from the dose rate [Gy/min]
in relation to the penetration depth [mm] of the respective XRS 4 is recorded
at 40 kV and at 50 kV.
Inserting the XRS 4 in the water phantom
•
Set up the water phantom in close proximity to your INTRABEAM.
•
Fix the rotary feedthrough:
–
Tighten the two fastening screws of the XRS mount evenly by hand.
WARNING
As soon as the XRS 4 is seated in the XRS mount, radiation can be generated
and the user may unintentionally come into contact with X-ray radiation.
•
Switch the INTRABEAM on only when the XRS mount with the XRS 4 is
properly seated in the rotary feedthrough and complete shielding is pro-
vided by the water tank.
NOTE
If, while being inserted in the INTRABEAM Water Phantom, the probe tip is
placed too deep in the water tank, it may collide with the measuring cham-
ber and thus be bent to a point where it is out of tolerance. The XRS 4 would
then no longer be capable of emitting radiation.
•
Place the positioning unit far enough upwards in the Z axis before you
insert the XRS 4 in the rotary feedthrough.
NOTE
If the fastening screws of the XRS mount are tightened unevenly, this could
cause the XRS mount to go out of shape or be warped, thus putting the po-
sitioning out of tolerance. A depth dose curve thus measured would then de-
viate from the calibration file significantly.
•
Tighten the fastening screws evenly by hand.
NOTE
If the fastening screws of the XRS mount are tightened too loosely or are not
tightened at all, this could cause the positioning to get out of tolerance. A
depth dose curve thus measured would then deviate from the calibration file
significantly.
•
Tighten the fastening screws evenly by hand.
