Using the SERVOPACK to Reset the Absolute Encoder
Use the following procedure to reset the absolute encoder with a Digital Operator from a
Σ
-V
SERVOPACK.
This concludes the operation for setting up the absolute encoder. Turn the power supply OFF
and ON again to reset the SERVOPACK.
When the absolute encoder is reset, the number of turns is reset to 0, which changes the
mechanical reference position. If the machine is operated in this state, unintended operation
could occur resulting in injuries or damage to the machine. Be careful when starting the machine
to ensure that this does not occur.

Press the MODE/SET Key to display the Utility
Function Mode main menu. Use the
∧
(UP) or
∨
(DOWN) keys to select Fn008.
2.
Press the DATA Key.
The display will change to the execution display for Fn008
(absolute encoder setup (initialize) and encoder alarm
reset).
If the display does not change and NO-OP is displayed in
the status area, a password has been set prohibiting
write operations with Fn010. Check the status and clear
the Write Prohibited setting.
3.
Keep pressing the
∧
(UP) key until PGCL1
changes to PGCL5.
4.
Press the DATA Key.
BB in the status display will change to “Done.”
5.
Press the MODE/SET Key. The display returns to
the Utility Function Mode main menu.
