RS-232 Interface Confi guration
•
Communication conforms to the RS-232C interface specifi cations.
•
Up to 99 temperature controllers can be connected to each RS-232
port on the host computer.
•
Cable length should not exceed 15 meters between computer and
LFI-3751 or between two LFI-3751s.
•
Use shielded, twisted pair cables (AWG 28 minimum).
•
The communications specifi cations of the LFI-3751 are fi xed. Set the
host computer to match the specifi cations listed below.

1. RS-232 Confi guration Overview
You connect an LFI-3751 to the RS-232 interface using the 25-pin D-sub
serial connector (DB-25) on the rear panel
(RS-232 Input Connector)
.
You can add up to 98 more LFI-3751s by connecting the
RS-232 Output
Connector
on the rear panel of the fi rst unit to the
RS-232 Input Connector
on the rear panel of the second and so on (daisy chain confi guration). The
temperature controller is
not
confi gured as a DTE (Data Terminal Equipment)
device. If your serial port is confi gured as a DTE device, you do not need a
null modem to communicate with the LFI-3751. The LFI-3751 uses software
XON/XOFF fl ow control.
