Your W6 overlocker requires a higher level of maintenance and cleaning
than a conventional sewing machine. The greater effort required is a result
of the design, as a large quantity of fluff is generated when trimming the
edges of the fabric. In addition, an overlocker operates at very high speed.
Particular attention must therefore be applied to regular oiling of the moving
parts.
Regular maintenance will
improve
the service life of your over
locker.

Cleaning the overlocker
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to an unexpected start-up
The foot controller is on the floor. This can lead to the overlocker starting up
unexpectedly if the foot controller is activated by, for example, a child, a
sufficiently heavy pet, an object or accidental contact.
►
Always unplug the
device from the mains
before
starting to
clean the device.
Remove the needle plate at regular intervals, and check for needle strikes. Minor
needle strikes on the needle plate can be removed by using fine 800-grit
emery paper. If the needle plate is severely damaged by needle strikes, it
must be exchanged. Visit our W6 WERTARBEIT Internet shop in the Spare Parts
category to order a new needle plate. In addition to that, check the
foot for needle strikes. Remove dust, lint and other
residues or foreign bodies
from the upper / lower looper, the feed dogs and knife areas. Use a dry brush for
this purpose.
