8.1
FREQUENCY
8.1.1
Unexposed TLD will replace exposed TLD quarterly as determined by the
EC or by conditions set forth in the current
Colorado Radioactive
Materials license
.
8.1.1.1
A duplicate TLD (QA) will be placed at one location on a
rotating basis to verify results of that TLD.
8.1.1.2
Additionally a control TLD is located at the residence of the EC
during the exposure period.
8.1.1.2.1
The control TLD will be placed in a lead shielded
box to insure that it is not exposed to ionizing
radiation during the sample period.
8.1.1.2.2
Sample media will be placed at locations listed in
Appendix 3.2.1.
8.2
PROCEDURE
8.2.1
The EC receives the TLD at his residence from the dosimetry vendor and
places the replacement control TLD in a lead shielded container at his
residence during the sampling period.
8.2.2
The dosimetry TLD are provided to the field sample staff for exchange
and collection.
8.2.3
The field staff technician at each monitoring location will place the TLD
into a Ziploc® type bag or equivalent and upon arrival at the monitoring
location place the TLD at the height of a human torso to simulate whole
body exposure.
8.2.4
The field staff technician, on arriving back at the facility will complete all
necessary paperwork and package the exchanged TLD badges and the
control TLD for the previous quarter for shipment to the dosimerty vender
for processing.
