share files, ping, or access each other’s computers,
however.
2.
The first “PING” attempt between subscribers may
succeed if the Controller has not previously seen traffic
from that subscriber. Subsequent PING or other packets
will be blocked.
3.
Auto LAN Isolation may not be effective across a switch
or router. In this case, direct packets between
subscribers cannot be detected by the Controller. If this
switch-based configuration cannot be avoided, We
recommends turning on LAN Isolation in the Access
Points. This feature is available in the SuperAP products
from VP. Please contact your Access Point vendor with
questions about LAN Isolation in other products.
Auto LAN Isolation Exception List
If you want some devices to be accessible when Auto-
LAN isolation is enabled, add their IP Address to the Exception
list. An example would be a network printer for guest use.
ICMP Ping Response
In this section, select either Enable or Disable radio button to
enable or disable the user’s access to ping the device. By default,
the Controller sets this option to
Enable
.
Multicast Packets
In this section, select either Enable or Disable radio button to
enable or disable the Multicast Packets. By default, the Controller
sets the Multicast Pass-through as Disable.
LAN Port Isolation
LAN port traffic can be isolated from other LAN ports. When this
feature is
enabled
, packets received on the LAN ports are only
transmitted to the WAN port or back to the incoming port. This
would prevent a subscriber on LAN port 1 from sending any
traffic to LAN port 2-3. For example, this could be used to isolate
a private or office network on Port 1 from a public network for
Hotel Guests on Port 2.
