Connecting DC Cable with Orange Wire

Connect this cable to the vehicle’s electric system that receives power when you turn on your

headlights. Now your scanner’s display will automatically dim when you turn on the headlights.

USING INTERNAL BATTERIES (UBCd436-PT ONLY)

Install the Batteries

You can power your scanner using 3 rechargeable AA or 3 alkaline AA batteries. Rechargeable

batteries are included.
Before you use rechargeable batteries, you must charge them. Insert 3 AA batteries in the battery

compartment. Replace the cover.

Selecting the Battery Type

Note: The Factory default setting for battery type is On (NiMH).
When using Alkaline batteries the unit must be set to charge Off (Alkaline). This is done through

the Settings in the Menu.
1. Press Menu to open MENU.
2. Turn the Scroll Control Knob to ‘Settings’ and press the Knob.
3. Turn the Scroll Control Knob to ‘Battery Options’ and press the Knob.
4. Turn the Scroll Control Knob to ‘Set Charge Mode’ and press the Knob.
5. Turn the Scroll Control Knob to ‘Off (Alkaline)’ and press the knob.

Charging the rechargeable NiMHBatteries

Before charging, make sure that the Scanner charge mode is set to charge On (NiMH).

Connect the supplied AC adaptor to the scanner’s USB Connector. When the batteries are fully

charged, ‘Charge Complete’ appears.
UBCD436-PT is supplied with a 12V vehicle charger and USB cable.
1. Plug the 12V vehicle charger into a cigarette socket.
2. Plug the USB cable into the USB socket on the 12V Vehicle charger and the Scanner’s mini USB.
The AC adaptor is also available as an accessory.

WARNING! If the scanner is set to charge Off (Alkaline), it won’t be charged.
WARNING! To prevent damage to NiMH batteries, never charge them in an area where the

temperature is above 45°C

(113°F) or below 0°C (32°F).
