OPERATION
● Check -
The ON/OFF switch is in the OFF
position for both the conveyor belt and the spinner
assembly.
● Check -
Visual check for hydraulic leaks.
TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY,
Do Not Use Your Fingers Or Hands
To Check For Hydraulic Leaks. High
Pressure Leaks Can Puncture The
Skin And Force Oil Into The Body. This
Can Cause Severe Injury Or Death.
WEAR EYE PROTECTION.
● Check -
The spinner vanes are in the proper setting
for either Lightspread or Heavyspread.
● Check -
Hitch pin properly installed in the hitch.
Optional 5th wheel hitch coupler properly hitched.
● Check -
Safety chains are properly attached to the
tow vehicle.
● Check -
Battery is fully charged. Cables are properly
attached to the battery.
● Check -
Tires are inflated to correct pressure as
indicated on the decal next to the tire valve.
● Check -
Visually inspect the inside of the 1540 EC
hopper for tools, shovels, rocks or debris remaining
from earlier use. Hopper must be empty.
● Check -
Ensure that all engine controls are in good
operating condition. Do not alter engine controls
and/or operate the 1540 EC with defective or non-
operational engine controls.
WIDESPIN 1540 EC WARM–UP OPERATION
Before operating the 1540 EC top dresser, allow a
warm–up period of the hydraulic system. Cold hydraulic
fluid will require a longer warm–up period. Do not start
the engine if the fluid temperature is less than -7° Celsius
(29° F). Damage will occur to the pump if the fluid is too
cold to flow to the pump.
TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE HYDRAULIC PUMP,
Do Not Start the Engine if the Hydraulic Fluid
Temperature is Under -7° Celsius (29° F).
ENGINE SPEED DURING OPERATION
The manual throttle control on the engine should always
be set at full throttle (after allowing engine and hydraulic
system to warm up at idle speed). The electronic control
box will automatically change the engine speed from idle
to full throttle when the ON/OFF switch is placed in ON.
Engine speed in the FAST position is controlled by the
setting of the manual throttle control on the engine. For
example, if the manual throttle on the engine is set at
1/2 throttle, the engine will go to 1/2 throttle when the
electronic control box switch is placed in ON - if the
engine throttle is placed in full throttle, the engine will go
to full throttle when the switch is placed in ON.
Full throttle operation provides a stable hydraulic flow
to the conveyor belt and the spinner assembly. Full
engine throttle should be used for both Lightspread and
Heavyspread operation.
Engine speed in the OFF position is a return to idle
speed (2100 to 2200 RPM). The engine will return to
an idle speed regardless of the setting of the manual
throttle on the engine.
LOADING OF HOPPER
The maximum hopper capacity is 0.6 cubic meters (21
cubic feet). Maximum weight of the load in the hopper
is 907 Kg (2000 pounds). Never overfill or overload the
hopper. Overloading may cause undue stress to the
top dresser components. Overloading may also cause
tires to sink into the turf and leave tracks. Never modify
the hopper to hold extra top dressing, Do not add side
boards to the hopper. An overloaded hopper will cause
the top dresser to be top heavy or out–of–balance, and
will increase the possibility of the top dresser tipping or
rolling over if operated on too steep of a slope.
The hopper can be loaded with a small front end loader,
however do not drop the load into the hopper from too
high of a height. Slowly load the hopper to avoid damage
to the hopper and conveyor belt.
TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY,
Always Keep the Top Dresser Hitched To the Tow
Vehicle When the Top Dresser Being Loaded
Or Is Loaded.
Never Unhitch The Top Dresser When On a Slope.
WIDE
SPIN
1540 EC TOP DRESSER TOWING
SPEEDS
The maximum towing ground speed should not
exceed 12.8 Km/h (8 MPH).
Excessive stress on the
machine will occur if speeds are in excess of 12.8 Km/h
(8 MPH). For best results, the 1540 EC should be moving
before the spinner assembly is engaged.
TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY
and To Avoid Damage to the Machine,
DO NOT Tow the WIDE
SPIN
1540 EC Top Dresser
Over 12.8 Km/h (8 MPH).
