Ethernet Configuration (Optional Hardware)
When equipped with the optional Ethernet interface, the analyzer can be connected
to any standard 10BaseT Ethernet network via low-cost network hubs, switches or
routers. The interface operates as a standard TCP/IP device on port 3000. If
Internet access is available through the LAN, this option also allows communication
with the instrument over the public Internet.
The option consists of a Teledyne Instrument’s designed Ethernet card, which is
mechanically attached to the instrument’s rear panel (Figure 2-6). A 7-foot long
CAT-5 network cable, terminated at both ends with standard RJ-45 connectors, is
included as well. Maximum communication speed is limited by the RS-232 port to
115.2 kBaud.
When installed, this option is electronically connected to the instrument’s COM2
serial port making that port no longer available for RS-232/RS-485 communications
through the COM2 connector on the rear panel. Once the Ethernet option is
installed and activated, the
COM2
submenu is replaced by a new submenu,
INET
.
This submenu is used to manage and configure the Ethernet interface with your
LAN or Internet Server(s).
