To adjust the horizontal position more quickly, press the SHIFT button. When
the label above the shift button lights and the display reads Coarse Knobs in the
upper right corner, the Horizontal POSITION knob speeds up significantly.
By adjusting the horizontal position, you can move the group right or left to see
different portions of it. For those waveform groups with record lengths longer
than the display, the Horizontal POSITION knob can bring any off-screen
portion on to the screen for viewing.
When you use either the Horizontal SCALE or POSITION knobs, you will affect
all the waveform records in all groups displayed, including those that have their
display mode set to off.
To Check Horizontal Settings
To quickly determine the horizontal scale, check the Time Base Readout at the
lower right corner of the display. It shows the time/division settings and the time
base — main (M), delayed (D), or both (M and D). (See Figure 3-2).
To quickly determine the size and location of the waveform record, check the
Record View at the top of the display. The square bracketed area of this readout
represents the display. The Record View also shows the location of the trigger
point relative to the display. (See Figure 3-2.) (It also shows cursor location if
cursors are turned on.)
