McDonald's Intelligap Grills
Troubleshooting
160122
Model C835 and C845 Gas Zones Only
(Cont'd.)
PROBLEM
PROBABLE CAUSE
REMEDY
The burner lights but the zone is
cool or overheats.
The grill is out of calibration.
Calibrate the grill.
The processor control is faulty.
Replace the control.
The thermocouple or the
thermocouple interface board is
faulty.
Replace the thermocouple or the
thermocouple interface board.
Intermediate “IGNITION
TERMINATED” error message
displays.
This error message displays when
the J4 Pin 10 on the motor control
board doesn't receive 12VDC
within 10 seconds of the start of a
heat cycle.
Loose/dirty connections throughout
the gas system.
Clean all wire terminals in the gas
system with contact cleaner.
(Service bulletin S2691.) Inspect
all wire terminals and perform tug
test to make ensure proper
connections. If terminals are loose,
tighten the terminals with pliers or
replace them. The main areas to
focus on are the IDC header and
the gas valve terminal block
located on the back left frame post.
Broken hi-limit wire, due to
movement. There might be a short
that is only present when the
platen is moving up or down.
Using a meter, check for continuity
through the hi-limit wire from the
IDC to the gas valve terminal
block. Perform this test while the
platen is stationary in the up/down
position. Also test while manually
moving the platen up/down.
Replace any broken or shorted
wires. Inspect the hi-limit wire
routing to make sure it is not tied to
the wires from the high voltage or
thermocouple wires coming from
the upper platen.
