PROBABLE CAUSE
REMEDY
The upper platen will not stay in
the COOK position, but will stay in
the STANDBY mode.
The processor control is not set
properly.
Check the time setting on the
processor control.
The upper platen will not stay in
the STANDBY mode, but will stay
in the COOK position.
Faulty wire connections.
Repair wire connections.
Incorrect use of the STANDBY
button.
Press the STANDBY button within
five seconds of lowering the platen
into the COOK position.
The upper platen opens too
rapidly.
The orifice/check valve is incorrect
or missing.
Replace the check valve.
The display reads “UPPER
PLATEN STUCK”.
The arm bearings are dirty.
Replace the bearings.
The air cylinder is faulty.
Replace the air cylinder.
Plugged air lines to cylinders.
Replace the air lines.
The display reads “PROBE
OPEN”.
The thermocouple or the motor
control board is faulty.
Replace the thermocouple or the
motor control board.
The product is under‐cooked or
over-cooked.
The release material sheet is worn.
Replace the release material
sheet.
The upper platen or lower grill
surface is not clean and/or has
carbon build‐up.
Closing procedures must be
followed to properly clean the
upper platen and the lower grill
surface, and to remove carbon
build‐up.
Incorrect cooking time.
Reset the processor control for the
correct time (check the Operations
and Training Manual).
Incorrect temperature.
Adjust the processor control to the
proper setting.
The preset gap height is incorrect.
Regap the grill.
The heating zone is not heating.
Repair/replace the heater.
The product is not cooking evenly.
The upper platen or lower grill
surface is not clean and/or has
carbon build‐up.
Closing procedures must be
followed to properly clean the
upper platen and the lower grill
surface, and to remove carbon
build‐up.
Release material sheet is worn.
Replace release material sheet.
Air pressure is not high enough.
Adjust air pressure to 30 psi.
The platen is not level.
Relevel the platen.
The preset gap height is incorrect.
Regap the grill.
