Backup and Restore a System Controller
Run the
dumpconfig
command after any configuration changes are made
to the system controller with the following commands:
●
setupdomain,setupplatform,setdate,addboard,deleteboard
,enablecomponent,disablecomponent
(or the newer
setls
command)
,password,addcodlicense,deletecodlicense
A good time to run
dumpconfig
on an installation is when the device
aliases have been configured, and the NVRAM parameters set.
If you need to replace an SC, in a single SC platform, you will need
this information.
There are three system controller commands used to administer the
system controller’s configuration data. They are:
●
dumpconfig, restoreconfig & setdefaults
Note –
It is NOT SUPPORTED to move the TOD & nvci chips from one
system controller to put on another.
Use the
dumpconfig
&
restoreconfig
commands.
Updating SC MAC addresses
The master MAC addresses are kept on the ID board. If a new system
controller is installed, the RTOS will recognize a mis-match and copy the
master MACs from the ID Board to the new system controller.
dumpconfig
command
The
dumpconfig
command saves the system controller configuration to a
server. The data files are named:
●
schostname.nvci
●
schostname.tod
.
It is important to invoke this command because if the system controller
board fails and this command was not used to save the platform and
domain configurations, you will need to manually reconfigure the
platform and the domains.
