Accessing the Platform Shell
Initially, access to the SC is through the serial port until such time as
you can setup the SC network interface or until such time as the SC
can come up on a network automatically via DHCP.
Using the Serial Port
To access the system controller from the serial port of a workstation:
# tip hardwire
If you cannot use TTY Port B on the workstation’s serial port, you
must edit the
/etc/remote
file.
:dv=/dev/term/b:br#9600:el=^C^S^Q^U^D:ie=%$:oe=^D:
Change /dev/term/b to /dev/term/a:
# tip -9600 /dev/term/a
works just as well
Using the
telnet
Command
# telnet <SC-hostname or IP address>
Type 0 for Platform Shell
Type 1 for domain A console
Type 2 for domain B console
Type 3 for domain C console
Type 4 for domain D console
Input: 0
SC-hostname:SC>
Using the
ssh
Command
Your admin workstation must be running Solaris 9 or above. Note that you
can ssh in from a PC if it has a win32 SSH client installed.
