Replacing an SC in a single SC configuration
Firstly, have you really got an SC failure ? The system controller may be hung, or you may
have a network problem.
Don’t forget the obvious. Have you checked the cables, hub, terminal concentrator?
Always try to access the system controller from the serial and ethernet connection.
Assuming both methods of access fail.
Have you re-booted the system controller?
Caution –
Do not attempt to clear the SC problem by pressing the reset
button. (See page 38)
A full platform shutdown is required to carry out this procedure.
Note –
Since the system controller has failed, there will be no access to the
platform or domain shell. Telnet directly into the domain(s) and shut
them down.

There is no method of powering off any components, since there is no access to the
platform shell. The only option is to turn off the keyswitch on the rack. Replace the
system controller, using anti-static procedures at all times.
